Transport for London (TfL) is consulting on a new express bus route, the SL13, which could link Hendon and Ealing Broadway while improving connections across North London.
The proposed route would pass through Brent Cross, Neasden Town Centre, Stonebridge Station, and key points along the North Circular Road, including IKEA, Tesco, and Neasden Temple.
The SL13 would form part of TfL’s growing Superloop network—a series of 10 express bus routes designed to speed up journeys between outer London town centres and transport hubs. The first Superloop route launched in June 2023, and TfL is now seeking feedback on three additional proposed routes.
If approved, the SL13 would start at Hendon War Memorial and terminate at Haven Green. In Ealing, TfL plans to extend the route along New Broadway to serve The Mall and Uxbridge Road, with Hanger Lane as the new start and end point. While the section between Ruislip Station and New Broadway would remain unchanged, the route would no longer run via Spring Bridge.
Changes to Existing Bus Services
Alongside the new SL13, TfL is proposing adjustments to several existing bus routes:
E7: Frequency changes to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes (previously every 12 minutes).
112: Adjusted to every 12 minutes during daytime, and every 15 minutes in early mornings, evenings, and Sundays (previously every 10–12 minutes).
232: Frequency will increase, operating every 15 minutes during early mornings instead of every 20–30 minutes.
TfL aims to run the SL13 seven days a week, between 5am and 12:30am, with buses every 12 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays, and every 15 minutes during evenings, Sundays, and early mornings.
Local Support
Krupesh Hirani AM, London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, welcomed the proposals:“I am delighted that TfL has listened to local residents and included Neasden Town Centre, Stonebridge Station, and the North Circular Road in the SL13 plans. This route will make local shops, the temple, and town centre much more accessible, and I encourage everyone to take part in the consultation.”
TfL is also consulting on two other potential Superloop routes: the SL14, which would run between Stratford and Chingford, and the SL15, connecting Clapham and Eltham. Early feedback from existing Superloop services indicates that they have helped increase bus ridership in the areas they serve.
The consultation for the SL13 and proposed changes to the E7, 112, and 232 routes is open until 25 October. Londoners are encouraged to provide their views and help shape the future of North London’s express bus network.
