Transport for London has rolled out a series of enhancements to its TfL Go travel app, giving passengers more control and clearer information while planning and undertaking journeys.
A major addition is the launch of real-time service alerts, which notify users when there are problems on the Tube, DLR, London Trams or other selected lines. Travellers can choose exactly which lines they want updates for, adjust notifications to specific times of day, and temporarily switch alerts off—for example, when travelling outside the capital.
TfL has also overhauled the live arrivals display for London Underground, DLR and tram stations. By selecting a station within the app, users are now shown trains grouped by travel direction and destination, making it easier to see which services are approaching and where they will go.
Improving confidence on the move
TfL’s customer director, Emma Strain, said the upgrades are intended to give passengers more certainty and better access to information:“People want to feel confident and in control when getting around London. These new features help make that possible—whether it’s receiving instant updates about your line or checking your next bus connection while still on the Tube.”
The latest improvements follow changes introduced last month that expanded how bus information is displayed. Users can now pan across the map to view any bus stop in London and check live arrival times, rather than only seeing stops near their current GPS location.
This allows travellers to plan onward bus journeys even while underground or on rail services.
