Stricken road sweeper specialist rescued

Waste management contractor Sweeptech has recently finalized the acquisition of road sweeper hire specialist Go Plant, following the latter's unfortunate plunge into administration last week.

The acquisition was orchestrated through a pre-pack deal executed by administrators from Alvarez & Marsal Europe. This move saw the transfer of numerous depots to Go Plant, thereby safeguarding 116 jobs within the company.

However, not all of Go Plant's depots found new ownership, leading to the closure of some and subsequent staff redundancies. Previously, Go Plant had employed a workforce of over 400 individuals.

Sweeptech offers an extensive array of services spanning waste management, high-pressure jetting, drainage maintenance and cleansing, CCTV surveys, and road sweeping.

Martin Smith, the CEO of Sweeptech, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, heralding it as a pivotal moment in their trajectory towards establishing a nationwide presence in waste management. He emphasized the strategic significance of the move, citing its potential to bolster customer service, uphold environmental sustainability, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Smith also voiced optimism about the future prospects of integrating Go Plant into the Sweeptech fold, envisioning collaborative efforts to drive innovation, instigate positive change, and set new benchmarks for excellence in waste management.
