Shropshire based highway maintenance contractor on the search for apprentices

To support local employment Multevo have introduced a Highway Maintenance Apprenticeship Scheme across their contracts within Shropshire and Telford.

Based in Oswestry, Multevo are a fast growing and award-winning highway maintenance contractor and traffic management delivery partner, carrying out permanent pothole and patch repairs, surfacing schemes and footway works on behalf of their customers.

Multevo work with over 40% of local authorities and most tier 1 contractors nationwide delivering a ‘fix first time’ approach to improving local community assets, carrying out a total of 463,456sqm of permanent pothole repairs in 2021 alone.

Having established long term partnerships across the Midlands, Multevo have worked in collaboration with Telford College to introduce a Level 2 Highway Maintenance Support Apprenticeship Scheme. Multevo currently have a team of 130 highway maintenance operatives and are committed to investing in local people through apprenticeship schemes to support service delivery.

The apprenticeship will begin in late February/early March for a duration of 18 – 24 months and will be a mixture of learning practical skills in a live working environment supported by some of Multevo’s most experienced team members as well as 12 weeks learning at Telford College alongside a dedicated tutor.

Training will include but is not limited to:

  • The safe operation of tools and equipment

  • Reinstatement / relaying of materials

  • Ironworks

  • Health and safety best practice principals

  • Interpreting drawings and specifications

  • Temporary traffic management including signs, cones and guarding

  • Plant and equipment checks

For those who enjoy working as part of team a career in highways is an exciting prospect with opportunities to progress within the business. The right candidates will be integrated into Multevo’s existing machine lay and hand lay teams and will form a key part of the organisation’s future with the potential to obtain full time employment following completion of the apprenticeship.

Multevo recently collaborated with Kier Highways and Shropshire Council to create a video case study based on the works carried out across the network. For those interested in the role, the video provides a good understanding of Multevo’s operations and ethos.
