RSTA becomes a member of Safer Highways to drive safety across the Highways Network

The Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) has agreed to join Safer Highways as a member to help support its on-going programmes and awareness around health, safety and wellbeing in the highway sector.

Safer Highways and RSTA will work together collaboratively to communicate the work of the members of both organisations in this area and the wider highways sector as well as further the work of the Safer Highways led Stamp It Out Campaign which is looking to eradicate road worker abuse and seek a change in the law to classify highways workers as key workers. Both organisations will work towards not only driving awareness but also strong leadership, effective communication and best practice at all levels in the sector.

The move follows a clear intention by Safer highways to ensure that its vision for safer road workers, safer road user, is applied to the local as well as the strategic highway network.

Commenting on the arrangement, Paul Boss, Chief Executive of the RSTA said: “Over the last few years the Safer Highways programmes focused on health, safety and wellbeing have made a real difference in the highways sector and I and our members are keen to show our support in doing what we can to make sure best practice and the latest thinking on these areas are on the agendas of every company operating in the sector today. I welcome the membership and look forward to our collaboration moving forward. Stamp It Out is a great example of this and deserves everyone’s support.”

Kevin Robinson, Chief Executive of Safer Highways said: “We welcome the opportunity to work with such a proactive and forward-thinking organisation such as RSTA and am pleased to see safety, health and wellbeing is an important part of its strategy moving forward.”
