Former National Highways Transformation and Performance Director appointed by highway maintenance specialist Carnell.

After nearly 20 years with National Highways, Rich Marshall joins Carnell in the new role of Engineering Director.

Rich has hosted the Heroes Awards for the last four years and has built a reputation for championing road worker safety and recognising the role that frontline staff play in delivering customer service excellence.

Working mainly in the Yorkshire North East region, he spent the early part of his career supervising control rooms and running the Traffic Officer service. He was promoted to Regional Operations Manager before a secondment to the Olympic Delivery Authority, returning two-years later as Regional Director. In 2021, Rich turned his attention to national strategy in the role of Transformation and Performance Director.

Welcoming him to the team, Carnell Managing Director Andrew Sharp said, “Rich brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the team. This new Engineering Director role will be pivotal in both developing and growing our asset management and engineering solutions capabilities and capacity. We see this as an important new growth area as we look to offer more end-to-end value for our clients.”

Rich added, “I have seen Carnell grow over the years, to be the strategic supplier to National Highways that they are today. I’ve always been impressed with the commitment to providing a great service to clients, with a focus on safety and innovation. The Carnell ambition for growth and success in the highway maintenance sector excites me and I relish the opportunity to support and influence this ambition in the years to come.”
