In April 2020 seven volunteers in the village of Strete, near Dartmouth in Devon started the process of taking on the lease of the Kings Arms pub in the village as a Community Benefit Society.
The pub had been vacant for a long time and the local residents were missing their regular pint! An open day event was held in the pub garden in the summer inviting residents to invest funds for start-up and share holding opportunities. This was amazingly successful and following lots of hard work by local volunteers, the Kings Arms re-opened on 16th October.
In December QMS was approached by the community organisation running the pub to see if, like other local businesses, we could help by setting out and marking the pub car park to maximise the available spaces. Equipped with our newest drying facility, one of our thermoplastic screed crews attended site, set out and installed the markings in two hours between opening times.
Strete Community Pub Limited commented, “This presents the Kings Arms with a professional image that will help customers to utilise the parking area safely when visiting the pub. A huge thank you for your magnificent support.”
Ralph Clark, CEO of QMS who lives in the village was happy to get involved with the setting out of the area, although wasn’t too keen to get his overalls back on!
