There are plenty of new roadworks schemes starting in Plymouth this week. There are a total of 33 new schemes getting under way, including on some of the busiest roads in the city.
From tonight, and for the next three night, on Outland Road (outbound), there is a lane closure from Segrave Road to Beauchamp Crescent. The closure is from 8pm to 6am and for desilting and cleaning works.
Also tonight there is a lane closure on Tavistock Road heading into the city. One lane closed, with no right turn onto Southway Drive, from 7pm to midnight, due to barrier repairs.
On Wednesday, Ebrington Street and Lipson Road is closed between Gasking Street and North Street. The closure is between 9.30am and 3.30pm for telecoms works by BT.
On Thursday on Outland Road, one lane is closed in each direction between Esso and footbridge outside Devonport High School for Girls, 7pm to 9.30pm for bollard works.
And on Thursday and Friday, on Novorossiysk Road, heading outbound, one lane is closed just after Forder Valley Road junction, from 9am to 3pm.
Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week. The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works.
They maintain all public roads in Plymouth except the A38, which is managed by National Highways on behalf of the Department for Transport.
“We know there's no good time to close roads, especially on busy routes and we do everything we can to co-ordinate planned works and minimise their impact on our transport network,” a City Council spokesman said.
