Thousands of residents in Peterborough are being asked to share their views on highways and transport services.

Peterborough City Council is taking part in the National Highways and Transport public satisfaction survey, which began on Friday, June 6, and will be sent to more than 4,000 randomly selected residents.

The survey covers topics including the condition of roads, footpaths, and the quality of cycling infrastructure.

Councillor Angus Ellis, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: "The results of this beneficial survey will enable us to find out what people in our city think about these important services.

"It gives them the opportunity to say which services they think the council should prioritise, and improve."

The survey is part of a wider national programme, now in its 18th year, involving 111 local authorities across England and Scotland.

It allows councils to compare results, share best practice, and identify opportunities for joint working.

This marks the 11th consecutive year that Peterborough City Council has participated in the scheme.

Last year, the council was ranked as the third best performing highways authority in the country, climbing 20 places from the previous year.

Councillor Ellis encouraged residents who receive the survey to take part.

He said: "The survey’s focus is all about better understanding the views of residents and working together to deliver the most satisfactory and efficient services.

"So if you receive it through your door please complete it and tell us your views."

Those who receive the postal questionnaire can also complete it online using a short URL and unique access code printed on the front.
