Over 30km of West Sussex roads resurfaced under scheme

West Sussex County Council’s road maintenance programme, funded by the Department for Transport road resurfacing fund, has now come to an end for this year.

A total of £4.322 million was given to the council for the programme through the road resurfacing fund, enabling the rejuvenation of 31.51 kilometres of road.

Councillor Joy Dennis, West Sussex County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “This generous grant from the Department for Transport road resurfacing fund has made it possible for the council to carry out essential road maintenance projects around the county.

“Projects as diverse as repairing the road outside the library in Crawley, resurfacing roads in Burgess Hill, and tarmacking areas in the Horsham Forest neighbourhood have been greatly welcomed by local residents.

“The works funded by the Department for Transport will improve the journeys of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.”
