Data has revealed that as many as one in 210 drivers living in this popular UK city are banned from the roads.

More than 140,000 drivers are currently banned from driving on UK roads, with one city the most affected area in the country.

DVLA data, analysed by motoring experts Dayinsure, found that 140,792  road users were off the road.

This equates to one in every 374 driving licence holders in the UK now unable to get behind the wheel.

The number has dramatically increased with just one in 431 licence holders banned this time last year.

However, Liverpool tops the list with around one in 210 licence holders banned from driving, a total of 3,154 road users.

Nicholas Shaw, managing director at Dayinsure said: “While the vast majority of UK motorists comply with the law, it is still alarming to see that so many motorists have been disqualified from driving due to dangerous and careless driving.

“The data highlights how vital it is for motorists to take extra care and attention when driving, as you never know what other road users might be doing – you sadly cannot just assume that others will drive as carefully as you would.

“Our final piece of advice would be to ensure that you are fully insured in case worse comes to worse and you are involved in an accident.”
