New Non-Executive Director appointed at National Highways


Sukhi Johal has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of National Highways, the company announced today. National Highways is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving more than 4,300 miles of England’s motorways and major A-roads. Sukhi brings a wealth of experience within the corporate finance sector, and is currently an Executive Director of UK Government Investments (UKGI), where she leads on mergers and acquisitions activities. Through this appointment, she also represents the National Highways shareholder, the Secretary of State for Transport, on the National Highways Board.Sukhi is a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance and has advised a wide variety of corporate clients and government departments. She has worked on transactions in healthcare, industrials, technology, media and telecoms (TMT), defence, construction and financial services. Sukhi has extensive hands-on experience of advising boards on option analysis to achieve their strategic goals, manage their operational risks and review financial plans. She has also developed a deep understanding of how to employ her commercial experience in a government environment, using her communication and relationship-building skills to manage conflicting stakeholder objectives. National Highways Chairman, Dipesh J Shah OBE said: “I am delighted to welcome Sukhi to the National Highways Board. In particular, her deep knowledge of corporate finance and stakeholder management within government departments will be invaluable.
