NATIONAL Highways: North West has said that it is investigating an 'issue' with the traffic lights on a Penrith roundabout.

The 'issue' relates to the traffic lights at the Kemplay Bank roundabout on the A66 and has led to the lights 'changing too soon' back to red, with this leading to disruptions.

National Highways: North West has said that it now working to find a solution to the issue 'as a matter of urgency'.

Writing on social media, National Highways: North West said: "We’re investigating an issue with the traffic lights at Kemplay Bank roundabout on the A66 and are working to find a solution as a matter of urgency.

The lights are operating, but they are changing too soon, meaning fewer vehicles are moving through before they turn red.

As we enter the weekend, we appreciate this may cause additional disruption to journeys and apologise for any inconvenience.

"Please bear with us, fixing the lights as soon as possible is our top priority."
