An investigation into trees which were mysteriously felled along the A47 is progressing.

Although details of the case into the missing trees at the westbound A1075 exit near Dereham cannot be shared while the investigation is ongoing, investigators say the case is still going forward.

Officials for National Highways have been looking into who is responsible for cutting down the trees for more than a year.

The authority was notified of the missing trees by Dereham Town Council, which raised an alarm in 2023 after it had noticed a decline in their numbers.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "A legal process to establish those responsible for the felling of mature trees on National Highways land by the A47 at Dereham is continuing.

"Until that process is complete, we cannot provide any further details.

"National Highways takes its environmental considerations very seriously and will work with the relevant authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible."
