Monitoring cameras have been installed at Llynclys Crossroads in Shropshire.
National Highways is hoping the cameras will allow it to better understand the traffic flow through Llynclys as they consider what can be done to make the junction safer.
North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan welcomed this development.
Ms Morgan has called for speed limit reductions and, longer term, a redesign of the junction to make it safer, and recently welcomed a reduction in the speed limit between Llanymynech and Pant.
National Highways' previous plans to improve safety at the crossroads were not funded as they were not considered to provide good 'value for money'.
Ms Morgan has now called for further suggestions from National Highways and urged the Government to provide the necessary funds for the project.
She has also taken action by petitioning residents about A483 road safety and demanding action from the Government during Prime Minister's Questions.
Ms Morgan said: "Llynclys Crossroads is one of the most dangerous junctions in the Midlands, and residents have long been crying out for progress.
"The introduction of the cameras shows that National Highways are taking our concerns seriously.
"However, we need support from the Government.
"One of the main problems is that the funding formula prioritises high speeds over saving lives.
"That is plainly wrong, and needs to be addressed by the Department for Transport.
"I will be continuing to fight for progress until we see the changes local people want to see."
