Emergency water repairs are having an impact on traffic on and near the M26 for a third day. Repairs to a burst water main are taking place on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 2A for Wrotham and the M25 J5 at Sevenoaks.
The burst water main was first reported at about 6am on Monday (July 10) and the road has been closed since 1.30pm that day, three miles before the M25, to allow South East Water engineers to complete the repairs. Drivers need to follow a 17-mile diversion.
The closure is having a knock-on effect for motorists in and around the area. National Highways says drivers are this morning (July 12) facing 40 minute delays on the M20 diversion route from Junction 2 to Junction 1.
Drivers are advised to allow extra journey time if in the area.
