Cllr Michael Cheyne has announced that he will step down from his role as Executive Member for Highways and Transport at Lincolnshire County Council, citing health reasons. Cllr Cheyne will formally step back at the full council meeting on 20 February.
“It’s been an honour to lead the highways and transport portfolio since May,” Cllr Cheyne said. “After a major operation late last year, I need to focus on my health and prioritise representing my community in Boston West. The portfolio requires someone with the energy to drive our ambitious plans forward.”
Cllr David East, representing Heckington division, will take over the highways and transport portfolio. Cllr Cheyne confirmed that a thorough handover is already underway to ensure a smooth transition.
Council Leader Cllr Sean Matthews praised Cllr Cheyne’s contributions, noting his work on the Pothole Pro trial and his commitment to engaging local communities. “While we will miss his steady guidance in the Executive, Michael will continue to be a strong voice for Boston residents,” he added.
