Industry Heavyweight Matt Townsend joins Amey as Area 10 Account Director

Amey recruit industry heavyweight as Account Director for area 10.

Matt Townsend has joined Amey as Account Director for their Area 10 Asset Delivery contract on the strategic road network.

Mr Townsend replaces former National Highways director Lucy Fell in the role following her move to Colas a number of months ago.

A former Director of Captia prior to their takeover and a civil engineering background, Mr Townsend has also held significant roles with National Highways as their Project Leader - A66 Northern Trans-Pennine Project, where he led the mobilisation and delivery phase of the £1.6bn project and latterly with WSP as their Highways Sector Director.

The move is the latest in a series of forward thinking appointments following the takeover of the contractor following the reappointment of former CEO Andy Milner following the takeover by the Lord Hammond led takeover by Buckthorn and One Equity which took place in early June of 2022.

Amey, which ranks among the government's most significant private sector contractors, has a workforce of roughly 15,000 people across multiple sectors including several local authority contracts as well as numerous National Highways contracts in Areas 10, 12 and 7 where it is the M&R delivery partner on the EMAD contract.

Speaking about the appointment on social media Mr Townsend said,

"I am happy to share that I am starting a new position as Account Director - Transport and Infrastructure at Amey.

"I look forward to getting to know my new team in Area 10."
