National Highways record 141 incursions in December

In the month of December National Highways recorded 141 incursions into traffic management through their internal reporting system.

In the second month since National Highways Incursions and working group commenced the release of monthly comparison data around incursions into roadworks, there were a total of 141 recorded over the calendar month.

Incursions to 'Seek Benefit' was again ranked first with 60, exactly the same amount as the previous month followed by 'Breakdown' as second with 38 incursions.

The numbers were down significantly on November's number of 221 incursions, although this should be issued with the caveat of the Christmas break leading to lower traffic volumes and a decrease in works.

The number of IPV strikes across the calendar year now totals 43 with 0 recorded in the month of December

The heat map (left) shows that the majority of incursions have occurred on major projects, many of which are involved in heavily urban areas such around cities (Birmingham, Manchester and London). Crucially the report, contrary to Safer Highways own qualitative analysis only shows a total of 9 reports of abuse.
