Holman wins £16m National Highways fleet management contract

Holman UK has been awarded a £16 million fleet management and maintenance contract by National Highways.

The new three-year deal, which goes live today, comes after National Highways' previous fleet management provider, Rivus Fleet Solutions, called in the administrators on Friday (June 21).

The tender decision for the 1,300 strong fleet was published on Wednesday, June 19.

Financial difficulties forced Rivus Fleet Solutions into administration with directors failing to find a viable alternative for the business.

It was providing service, maintenance and repair (SMR) for National Grid and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) as well as National Highways.

Following the appointment of administrators last week, the majority of Rivus Fleet Solutions’ assets were sold to the Met, safeguarding 165 jobs and allowing the continuation of the delivery of crucial fleet services to the police force. Some 55 members of staff were immediately made redundant.

Rivus was managing the fleet maintenance and repair of 3,700 emergency response, support and general-purpose vehicles as part of its contract with the Met.

Speaking to Fleet News in November, 2023, Holman said that transparency was a key reason why it has won 20 customer contracts in the UK in the year, accounting for around 4,000 vehicles, as well as winning the BT contract from Rivus, which went live at the end of September, 2023.

The addition of BT’s 37,000 vans made Holman the UK’s largest fleet management company with almost 140,000 assets.

Further details about this latest Holman contract win are expected to be released following the General Election.
