Green Flag has become the first nationwide UK breakdown service to implement HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud® across its entire fleet, marking a significant step forward in roadside safety innovation.
This move highlights Green Flag’s ongoing commitment to protecting its network of technicians while they assist motorists.
The rollout is being managed in partnership with Apex Networks, HAAS Alert’s strategic collaborator, ensuring a smooth implementation of the digital alert system throughout Green Flag’s recovery vehicles.
Roadside recovery work carries considerable risks, particularly with the rise of distracted driving and vehicles that are increasingly soundproofed, which can reduce the effectiveness of traditional lights and beacons.
Safety Cloud tackles this challenge by sending real-time digital warnings to drivers approaching active recovery vehicles. Delivered through navigation apps and compatible in-car infotainment systems, these alerts provide up to 30 seconds of advance notice. Acting like a “digital siren,” the system encourages drivers to slow down and move over well before they reach the breakdown site.
With a broad network that allows Green Flag to reach most customers within an hour, the company sees this technology as a crucial element of its health and safety strategy.
Harry Rai-Paul, Health, Safety and Compliance Manager for Roadside Rescue at Green Flag, said:
“Our team of over 3,000 technicians works around the clock to assist both personal and commercial vehicles across the UK. Whether it’s helping a caravan stranded mid-journey or resolving an issue with an EV, our priority is always rapid response. But above all, we are focused on keeping our technicians safe. Introducing Safety Cloud across our nationwide network gives us an additional safety layer, helping to ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of the day.”
