Blackpool-headquartered Fox Brothers Holdings has expanded its operations with the acquisition of Wigan’s NMS Civil Engineering.
The deal marks Fox Group’s second acquisition since it was itself purchased by Stellex Capital Management in September 2024.
NMS, originally established as Northern Motorway Services Limited, specialises in highways construction, road planning, barrier works, and asphalt recycling. Its addition strengthens Fox Group’s strategy of diversifying from its traditional haulage and earthworks base into a broader circular construction materials business.
The acquisition is expected to create synergies by integrating recycled asphalt planings (RAP) into Fox’s operations, particularly at its newly opened £4m asphalt plant in Leyland, which began production in July 2025.
Paul Fox, CEO of Fox Group, said:“This is an extremely exciting time for the company. The acquisition will build on our recent expansion and broaden our circular offering to customers, bringing our annual use of recycled materials close to two million tonnes. NMS has a strong management team, and we look forward to working together to deliver growth. We are committed to a smooth transition for their people and customers, and we expect success through this synergistic partnership.”
Roger Thistlethwaite, Director of NMS, commented:“Becoming part of Fox Group gives us access to their wider network and resources, opening significant opportunities to grow and meet rising demand for RAP. With Fox’s support, we can further advance our commitment to sustainability and circularity across the business.”
