A stretch of a main road in Kent which has been closed since March as a new school is constructed is to reopen a week earlier than scheduled, a local council has announced.
The A228 Frindsbury Hill in Strood will reopen to vehicles on Friday for the first time in 14 weeks.
Medway Council said the closure had been to allow the construction of the entrance to the new Maritime Academy school site.
"Once Frindsbury Hill is open, all traffic management measures which were in place will be removed", a council spokesperson said.
The road was closed from the Sans Pareil roundabout to Brickfield View to allow construction works to be completed.
Adam Bryan, Medway Council’s director of place, said: “I am really pleased these works are finishing ahead of schedule, and I would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding.
"We have been able to open the road earlier than planned as the contractors have worked very closely with us."
Bus services are set to return to normal on Saturday.
The new Maritime Academy is expected to open in September.
