Issue 17 of Insight Magazine is now available to download.
A special edition of the award winning publication from Safer Highways, this particular edition has been edited and written by the National Highways backed Driving for Better Business programme.
Covering highlights from their inaugural #bethechange conference which took place at the National Space Centre in March 2023, the edition features articles from guest editor Mark Cartwright, Head of Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention for National Highways as well as a ringing endorsement from the organisations Chief Exec Nick Harris about why collectively we need to work towards Zero Harm.
Other articles in the issue come from Meera Naran OBE, consultant nurse Rob Fenwick, comedian John Ryan (around mental health) and most prominently Olympian and Professor Greg Whyte OBE who talks about chasing marginal gains and why this is vital to improving road safety.
Speaking about the publication, guest editor Mark Cartwright said,
"Typically, 5 people will die on UK roads every day. A further 70 people will suffer serious, often life changing injury. This is unacceptable.
Over half of all vehicles registered in the UK are driven for work and this gives us a superpower because ‘we’ can influence behaviours and choices.
Flex your superpower muscles and make a difference. Manage your own truck, van and car fleets brilliantly. Be a demanding client, ensuring your supply chains, contractors and suppliers are in no doubt of your expectations that they too manage their vehicles brilliantly.
This was the theme of our recent road risk event at the National Space Centre. We are indebted to Safer Highways for committing their latest issue to covering the event. I hope you find it inspiring and motivational.
Together we are driving change. It’s personal… "
