Two Just Stop Oil protestors convicted of causing a public nuisance occupying the QE2 Bridge at Dartford have had their sentencing delayed because of a lack of legal representation.
The pair climbed the bridge last October, causing it to be closed for two days. That led to significant traffic delays in the area.
Activists Morgan Trowland, 40, of Islington, London, and 34-year-old Marcus Decker, 34, of no fixed address, claimed it was a peaceful protest but were convicted at Basildon Crown Court last week.
The Southend Echo newspaper reports that Trowland, who had represented himself during the trial, requested a barrister for sentencing, but none was available.
The judge said he was uncomfortable with sentencing and therefore delayed that hearing until 21 April.
The pair remain remanded in custody.
