Gloucestershire County Council is planning to hold a project briefing day for the ambitious M5 junction 10 upgrade.
The £254m project will include a roundabout built above the motorway and a new road linking Junction 10 to west Cheltenham; and A4019 widening, east of Junction 10.
If planning consent is granted work is planned to start on site in 2023, opening for traffic in late 2024.
The scheme is to be delivered by Gloucestershire County Council, with support from Highways England and Homes England.
Ahead of procurement getting underway this August, the council is planning a Microsoft Teams market engagement event on Friday 16 July 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00
This will detail the plans and give contractors an opportunity to comment upon and help shape the procurement and contractual strategy being developed.
Interested firms will also have the chance to attend one2one sessions (via Microsoft Teams) with the project team between 19 July and 4 August.
This will allow more focused discussion around technical and commercial aspects of the project.
Upgrading the motorway junction is essential to developments around Cheltenham, particularly the new Golden Valley Development, set to be the home of Cyber Central.
This development is set to bring around 12,000 jobs to Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the surrounding area and, over time, will deliver 3,700 new homes to the area.
The county council has secured £249m for the project from the Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund.
