Royal BAM Group has appointed Henri de Pater as chief financial officer (CFO).

It coincides with the announcement the group enjoyed increased profits in the first quarter of the year, supported by ‘significant improvements’ in the performance of its UK construction arm.

De Pater, who joined BAM in 1996 and has served as executive director of finance for the UK and Ireland since January 2022, was nominated for the position in October 2024.

He succeeds Frans den Houter who held the position of CFO since 2018.

He said: “The shareholders of Royal BAM Group officially approved my nomination as CFO and executive board member. I’d like to thank them for their faith and their support. After having fulfilled various financial leadership roles at BAM in the past 28 years, it is a great honour for me to contribute to BAM’s strategy ‘Building a sustainable tomorrow’ in this new role.

The news comes in the wake of BAM’s recent trading update (8 May), Netherlands-based Royal BAM said BAM Construct was on track to deliver an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 5 per cent.

An increase in revenue was seen in both its divisions in the Netherlands and UK and Ireland.

Its order book further improved to £11.25 billion (€13.3 billion) up 2.3 per cent from £11 billion on end of year 2024 (€13 billion), with continued focus on quality above volume.

Despite the impact of project delays and supply issues last year,  Construction UK has seen a solid performance, while Civil engineering UK and Ireland continued to perform well.

BAM’s recently secured projects in the UK include the £100 million green skyscraper transformation of Broadgate Tower in London, and the £45.4 million ferry infrastructure project in the remote Shetland island of Fair Isle.
