Today (Monday 2nd April), Balfour Beatty Living Places mobilised its latest local authority win.

On Monday 2nd April, Balfour Beatty Living Places, the part of the UK's biggest contractor responsible for it's local authority business mobilised its latest contract, this time on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council.

The eight year contract, worth, £176m, was awarded in August 2022 following as part of a planned move as the contract with current partner, Ringway Jacobs, came to a close at the end of this month.

The switch also saw the award an 8-year contract to Atkins – a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group – to provide design and professional services for the county’s highways. Their contract will run again from 1 April 2023.

Atkins will work in close collaboration with Buckinghamshire Council and its new maintenance contractor Balfour Beatty Living Places, appointed in July, to support highways maintenance and infrastructure projects across more than 3,000 miles of roads, footpaths and cycle routes.

“We are delighted to be working closely with Buckinghamshire Council as we work hard to leave a lasting positive legacy across the county; improving services, reducing our environmental impact, engaging with local supply chain partners and creating local employment opportunities.”

At the same time, Richard Ward-Jones, Client Sector Director at Atkins posted on social media,

"And so it begins…!!

"Today marked the official launch of #Buckinghamshirehighways and the beginning of Atkins brand new partnership with Buckinghamshire Council, working alongside Balfour Beatty Living Places to support the maintenance and improvement of Highways and Transport across the county over the next 8 years and perhaps beyond!

Really excited about seeing this new partnership move into delivery mode next!"
