A14 will be closed for six to eight weeks for ‘essential maintenance work’ between junction 52 (Claydon) and junction 55 (Copdock Interchange)

A key section of the A14 will be closed for six to eight weeks for ‘essential maintenance work’.

National Highways East says essential maintenance work will be begin between junction 52 (Claydon) and junction 55 (Copdock Interchange) from August 27.

Work will be done on weeknights only, between 8pm to 6am, ‘weather permitting’

“While the A14 is closed eastbound, traffic will exit at junction 52 (Claydon), travel along the B1113 through Bramford and Sproughton, then along the A1071 and A1214 to rejoin the A14 at Copdock roundabout. The westbound diversion will follow the same route.”

Ahead of work starting, National Highways East will be holding a free public information drop-in event on Wednesday August 21 between 4pm and 7pm at Tithe Barn, Lower Street, Sproughton, IP8 3AA.

The spokesman added: “This event is your opportunity to ask the project team any questions about the project and its road closures.

“We understand how disruptive closures on this section of the A14 are to local residents but, repairs are needed to extend the life of the road surface to minimise the need for more extensive repairs in the future.”
