A E Yates were delighted to be announced as double winners for the A590 M6 J36 to Brettargh Holt Improvement – the UK’s first Carbon Neutral Highway Scheme.
The ‘Highways Awards 2021’, held at the Royal Lancaster London, celebrates the amazing people, teams, projects, and innovations that have helped the industry grow the economy and improved community safety and sustainability.
Working in collaboration with Aggregate Industries, H W Martins, Route One, Jointline, and Dyniq, AEY were Principal Contractor on this scheme which scooped the ‘Environmental Sustainability in the Highways Sector Award’ – demonstrating consideration for all environmental issues within the project.
The project was also awarded the prestigious ‘Special Merit Award’. The judges review all the entries which have impressed them the most. They consider the benefits to society, the improved safety to all road users or workers, and the positive impact on the industry.
The judges announced, ‘The winner stood out because of its rigour and prescience, setting a new benchmark in the increasingly vital challenge of decarbonisation. From concept to planning and delivery, this project achieved excellence in sustainability and provided best practice that could help stimulate innovation across the entire sector.’
