Road users are advised that the M74 Junction 3A Daldowie overbridge will be reduced to a single lane, with temporary 4-way traffic signals in operation, from 8pm on Sunday 20 August 2023 for a period of approximately six weeks.
In addition, the M73 northbound on slip road form Daldowie will also be closed for the first three weeks of these works. The M74 Junction 3A Daldowie off and on slip roads and the M73 southbound off slip road to Daldowie will remain open for the duration of these works.
The works will be carried out in two separate phases, with one half of the bridge deck works being carried out in phase 1, with a single lane open to allowing traffic to cross the bridge. Phase 2 of the works will complete the works to the other half of the bridge deck and will commence immediately after phase 1 is completed.
The phasing of these works is to minimise disruption to traffic and are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst bridge deck waterproofing is undertaken. Traffic management will remain in place 24/7 during the course of the works. Pedestrian access will be maintained across Daldowie overbridge.
The two phases of work will take place as follows:
Phase 1: The A721 westbound lane, across the M74 Daldowie overbridge, between the southbound off slip road and northbound on slip will be closed from 8pm on Sunday 20 August 2023 for approximately 3 weeks until Sunday 10 September 2023.
As a result, the following slip road will also be closed during this time:
M73 northbound on slip road from Daldowie
Phase 2: The A721 eastbound lanes, across the M74 Daldowie overbridge, between the northbound on slip road and southbound off slip will be closed from 8pm on Sunday 10 September 2023 for approximately 3 weeks until Sunday 1st October 2023.
In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled these works to be carried out in two separate phases, allowing one lane across the bridge to remain open at all times during the works. Operations are planned between the hours of 7am and 7pm, seven days a week, to enable completion of works as quickly as possible.
Signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures. Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check the Traffic Scotland website prior to travelling on these dates to check their route.
The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council, Amey South West Unit and Police Scotland.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
