ABOUT

Owing to the current uncertainty around mass gatherings in the coming months and as a duty of care to everyone who would have been attending this year’s SH L!VE, we have decided that the upcoming event will now take place digitally this September with the the physical experiential event now taking place on 21st and 22nd April 2021.

SH L!VE digital week will take place week commencing 20th September 2020.

What this, in effect, means for those involved in the physical event is an opportunity to double engagement levels for no extra cost, thus satisfying our desire to champion excellence in Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental innovation for the broader good of the sector all the year round.

SHL!VE is growing and developing as the first and only collaborative industry event that illustrates innovation in health, safety and wellbeing in the Highways sector and wider industry.

The Highways Heroes will be judged by their peers, led by Kevin Robinson, Chief Executive of Safer Highways and entry is simple via an online form with the opening date for entry will be Monday 19th July with submissions to be made on the soon to be launched Highways Heroes website - www.highwaysheroes.co.uk.

Speaking about the launch of the awards, Kevin Robinson said: “It feels a really fitting time to celebrate the heroic efforts of our Highway Heroes after the couple of years we have endured during the pandemic. But the one positive is the realisation that we have some of best highway workers in the world. Often their actions and efforts go beyond the call of duty and go unnoticed, these awards aim to change that.

“As a community Safer Highways feels the time was right to launch this unique event. Initially planned as a one off, these awards aim to compliment our SH Awards, which recognise organisational excellence and will take place during SH L!VE next year on June 8th. Because of the time, because of the circumstances and the stories we have heard about our people over the last year and in the past, we couldn’t leave the opportunity to recognise them go by. It would be great when we all come together on December 2nd in London, we see these unsung heroes having their moment in the spotlight and as an industry have the chance to say ‘thank you’.”

“A big thank you to Kevin Robinson and his team for a great day yesterday at SH L!VE. It was an absolute privilege to share our work with the audience of leaders in this sector. Can’t wait to get involved again next year!”

“Fantastic day at the SH L!VE event, meeting and discussing ideas with the top leaders in the industry. Have to pinch myself how fortunate I have been to be able to do so! So inspiring to see how they are addressing similar issues, receiving their advice and seeing the great job the construction industry and highways are doing in addressing health and safety issues! ”

“Really enjoyed SH L!VE. Big well done to everyone involved in setting up the event, those that took part whether facilitating the theatres, speaking passionately about topics that matter to them, or hosting exhibition areas. For the inaugural event, fantastic turnout and great to meet new faces and re-connect with familiar ones”.
