Lunch & Learn Session

The presentation was led by Reference Point, Mitie – providers of the Passport software and service, and the HE Passport Steering group alongside Mark Byard Director for Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Highways England.

The presentation starts by covering the background – including what is the Passport Scheme, why the initiative started, the benefits, who is it for, plus an update on the Highways Common Induction.

The Passport software provided by Reference Point and Mitie is a key component in delivering the benefits identified, so much of the session will then move to cover what the software and service provide – not only for the HE community but other organisations too.

Mark joined Highways England as Health, Safety and Wellbeing Director in April 2018 after nearly 20 years in the water industry.  Prior to joining Highways England Mark was H&S Director at United Utilities based in the North West and was at Severn Trent Water before that in health and safety and operational management roles.

Mark’s background in operations is a continuous point of reference as he develops new health, safety and wellbeing strategies.  Since joining Highways England Mark has developed their new approach to health, safety and wellbeing ‘Home Safe and Well’ which launched across Highways England and the supply chain in early June 2019.  This approach supports the company’s vision ‘we want everyone who works with us and everyone who travels on our network to get home safe and well’
