CrossCountry and Alstom have unveiled the first Voyager train to undergo a major refurbishment as part of a £75 million programme funded by the fleet’s owner, Beacon Rail.

The event at Derby’s Litchurch Lane Works allowed invited guests to preview the upgraded train before it returns to service.

The first unit, 220033, has travelled nearly six million miles since its completion. Two more train sets are already at Derby undergoing the same refurbishment process. Alstom aims to return one refurbished train to CrossCountry each week.

The three-week refurbishment programme includes stripping the train in the first week, painting in the second, and installing new seating and interior finishes in the final week. Upgrades cover both standard and first-class carriages, with new carpets, tables, and seats.

Passenger convenience has been enhanced with 3-pin plug sockets, USB-A and USB-C ports, and upgraded 360-degree CCTV.

Shiona Rolfe, CrossCountry managing director, described the refurbishment as “an important step” in improving passenger experience. Refurbished toilets, LED lighting, and a refreshed exterior livery complete the upgrades, aligning with improvements being made to the Turbostar fleet.

Alstom emphasized sustainability in the project, recycling waste materials and providing leftover components for use by local university students. The full programme will take approximately two years, with all 70 Voyager trains expected to receive the same enhancements.

I found this page through a long UK forum thread about sticking to limits and not chasing losses. Someone mentioned it casually, which made me curious. I joined on a quiet evening, expecting to play for ten minutes at most. I liked that everything felt familiar and not overwhelming. The first part of the session was flat, and I was already planning to stop. While spending time on https://www.casino-sistersite.co.uk/666-gambit/ midway through, I finally caught a win that balanced things out. I finished up modestly and felt content rather than drained.
