South Downs Findon Gateway, Findon Valley and town: have your say on cycling/walking link proposal

People are being urged to join the Active Travel conversation and have their say on a major scheme to boost walking and cycling provision in Findon Valley and Findon.

Public consultation begins on Monday, 19 July, on the £1million cycleway/footway scheme to connect the South Downs National Park gateway of Findon Village with Findon Valley. It is part of West Sussex County Council’s Active Travel improvement proposals, which aim to:

  • make walking and cycling to work, education and leisure activities more attractive

  • improve health and wellbeing by offering eco-friendly travel choices

  • broaden travel choices by offering safer, quick and easy walking and cycling options, particularly for short journeys

  • support zero emission journeys and reduce reliance on car travel.

The Findon/Findon Valley proposal is for an off-carriageway, 2km-long shared walking/cycling path adjacent to the A24, with onward connection to Worthing via the existing cycle network. If given the go-ahead, it would be built on the eastern side of the A24 and would use entirely highways-owned land.

More details are available at www.westsussex.gov.uk/a24-findon The consultation will run until 15 August.

Anyone without internet access, or who needs the questionnaire in an alternative format, can contact us on 01243 642105.
