Process begins on £500m pipeline of work in South.
Milton Keynes have begun the search for a company for a £350M highways services contract in Milton Keynes whilst over in Windsor and Maidenhead a £140M highways services framework has been announced.
Milton Keynes City Council is seeking a contractor to deliver its maintenance and capital works in a contract which will total £350m over the next four years, with a potential to expand for a further four, thus doubling the length and value of the contract.
The works covered by the £350M contract are comprehensive and cover all routine, reactive and planned works that need to be delivered by the authority.
Interested suppliers have until 12 June to return responses to the selection questionnaire. Five contractors will then be invited to the tender stage.
Meanwhile, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council have announced a £140M highway services framework, which will span 7 years,, with a further two possible extensions.
Divided into four lots, the contracts are designed to create collaborative and efficient working practices delivering value for money and sustainable services.
The biggest of these is Lot 1 with a value of £112M
Works include:
· Coordination and programme of highway repairs
· General civil engineering projects (including cycleways, footway maintenance, drainage infrastructure and safety barriers and integrated transport schemes)
· Responding to highway incident, emergency or safety defects following customer reports including structures
· Emergency response 24/7 including on-call availability
· High friction surfacing, lining and other surface treatments (including replacement of markings as appropriate
· Routine, reactive and planned maintenance of safety barriers
· Winter service (including route planning provision of staff and vehicles)
· Drainage inspections and inspections for minor repairs/projects and works programming
· Support for special events
· Collaboration with all other service lot providers
· Streetworks permitting, including road closures, footpath closures, parking suspensions and works related to section 81 and other streetworks regulations
Tenders may be submitted for one lot only with deadline for expressions of interest is 4 July.
