The Jacobs backed and Safer Highways supported “One Million Lives“ campaign has now surpassed 5,000 check ins inside its first two months.
Since its launch, One Million Lives goal has been to support individuals with mental health issues - whether they be thone who work within our industry or their extended families or friends, now after just two months since the campaign launched it has reached 5,000 check-ins.
Each check in is an individuals own mental health personal assessment and comes with a personal action plan for how we can all improve our own wellbeing.
Developed by Jacobs, but available for use by friends and families and indeed anyone across the world, One Million Lives is not about an app, its not about a website, it’s about honest conversations.
The aim of one million lives was to break down the barriers that hinder honest conversations about mental health and encourage an open culture of support.
It’s goal was to really leverage our extensive networks and create a ripple effect across the globe, where over one million people are inspired to complete a mental health check-in to then have honest conversations of their thoughts and feelings.
The team created a web based check in app in partnership with RediApps ,using clinical expertise and the passion of the Jacobs team.
Speaking about the initiative Paul Hendry Vice President HSE at Jacobs said,
“ One year ago myself, Peta Slocombe and a few colleagues embarked on a project to try and elevate and normalise the conversation around mental health within our occupational and social networks.
“We wanted to break down the barriers that hinder honest conversations about mental health and encourage an open culture of support.
“Our goal was to really leverage our extensive networks and create a ripple effect across the globe, where over one million people are inspired to complete a mental health check-in to then have honest conversations of their thoughts and feelings.”
At the same time Kevin Robinson, CEO of Safer Highways added,
“On the eave of the launch of the second ever Thriving at Work Survey Report into employers capability to demonstrate adequate support within the workplace for mental health it is amazing to be part of One Million Lives.
“For Safer Highways it was the final piece in the jigsaw in that it truly offered a mechanism of self help for individuals who otherwise may be fearful of the stigma of speaking out at a time when they are at their lowest ebb.
