Passengers have noticed a notable change on the latest Metrolink map, with signs that the Trafford Centre line has been extended.
The updated network map, released in March as major maintenance works began across the tram system, shows the Trafford Centre service now continuing beyond its previous terminus at Deansgate-Castlefield.
According to the new layout, trams on this line now run through the city centre, stopping at key locations including St Peter’s Square, Exchange Square, Victoria, Queens Road and Abraham Moss, before terminating at Crumpsall.
It is not yet clear whether this extension is a temporary measure linked to ongoing engineering works or a permanent update to services.
Passengers have also highlighted additional changes on the map, including new walking connection symbols between several stops in the Salford Quays area, aimed at improving journey planning.
Reaction from regular users has been largely positive. Some have pointed out that the extended route could reduce congestion at busy interchanges such as Deansgate-Castlefield and Cornbrook, while others welcomed more convenient connections across the network.
If retained long-term, the change could offer greater flexibility for passengers travelling between Trafford, the city centre and north Manchester.
