Kier and Supply chain partners enjoy successful "Find your Drive" event.

With the help of its supply chain partner and fellow Safer Highways member WJ, and client Highways England, Kier's Early Careers team successfully delivered their two-hour presentation, ‘Find your drive with Kier Highways', to members of the public this month.

During this nationwide event, speakers shared their personal journeys of entering the Highways sector, with previous graduates and apprentices delving into how their experiences got them to where they are today.

With the aim of engaging with future employees the event was designed to give school leavers the opportunity to find out about careers in the Highways Sector which they never knew existed and realise what the industry can offer and understand that it isn’t “muddy manual work” that awaits. It is so much more.

Its aim was to share with you the new virtual platform, and apprenticeship opportunities in your area.

Speaking about the event Kier said,

"We are pleased to say that we had a diverse mix of people turn up to this virtual event, including veterans, women and career changers."

Speaking in response to news about the success of the event Safer Highways Development Director Adrian Tatum said,

" As we look to address serious skill shortages which we all know are looming on the horizon it is fantastic to see both the client in Highways England and key supply chain partners teaming up to show exactly what the industry has to offer.

"Inwardly we all know what a great place to work highways is, but to may on the outside the perception is radically different.

"Safer Highways will, over the coming weeks be unveiling our own outreach programme and, as such, to see our member companies acting as trailblazers in this space is thoroughly welcome."
