Holman strikes fleet management deal with National Highways

National Highways has signed a three-year, full fleet management contract with Holman, after its previous provider went into administration.

Financial difficulties forced Rivus Fleet Solutions into administration in June, with National Highways among a number of high profile fleet customers.

Holman began managing the National Highways fleet at the end of June after winning the contract in a competitive tender via the YPO public sector fleet framework.

Holman will look after nearly 750 vehicles, with the majority of them 4x4s and SUVs. These include the Land Rover Discovery, BMW X5, Maxus T90 and eDeliver 9, as well as a variety of other vehicles from BMW, Volvo, Toyota, Kia and Ford, as well as nearly 50 incident screen trailers.

National Highways has 85 depots throughout the UK, looking after the 4,300 miles of motorways and major A-roads, as well as ensuring 10,000 miles of carriageways, 150,000 signs, 20,000 bridges, and 100,000 streetlights are all operational.

Alongside, it has a target that all traffic officer vehicles will be ultra-low emission by 2025, and zero emission by 2030.

Holman will manage maintenance, breakdown, tyres and accidents, as well as provide rental services and fleet administration, including fuel cards and fines.

“Being chosen to help manage this vitally important fleet shows the level of support Holman can bring,” said Steven Shepherd, Holman business development manager.

“Our team have the knowledge and tools to keep high use operational vehicles on the road, through the identification of trends that are affecting downtime, rectification of those issues through proactive maintenance and repair, and fast-moving action when breakdowns occur, or drivers need a replacement vehicle.”

National Highways will be able to access Holman’s Insights platform, which provides customers with access to all data, while its officers will be able to use its new driver app to manage all their service, maintenance and repair (SMR) bookings and condition reporting.

Maintenance and repairs of all vehicles will be handled by Holman’s network of suppliers and repairers, which now totals more than 2,000 outlets, with the contract run from Holman’s Chippenham HQ.

Holman commercial director, Rory Mackinnon, said: “Holman’s record with essential user fleets is second to none, and we are delighted to welcome National Highways into the family.

“Their needs – extremely low downtime, operational parameters with no compromise, financial efficiency and a commitment to high levels of service – clearly align with our values at Holman.”
