Atkins become latest organisation to become Safer Highways Members

Highways and Transport consultant, Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has become the latest company to join Safer Highways.

Atkins is one of Europe's most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies working across several disciplines and industries, including highways and transport.

Recent projects in the UK include the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Aberdeen Western Peripheral and the A465 Section 2, as well as Atkins being a JV shareholder on the 30-year DBFO on ConnectPlus Services.

Speaking about joining Safer Highways, Ian Spellacey, Client Director, Strategic Highways at Atkins said: “Atkins is proud to become a member of Safer Highways. By working together to support safe working practices in the UK highways sector and raising awareness of health and wellbeing issues in our industry, we can move closer to achieving our core value that ‘everyone goes home safely.”

Atkins will bring a unique perspective to the work of Safer Highways, which this year includes the industry-led Stamp It Out campaign-set up to eradicate road worker abuse, mental health including the Big Conversation about Mental Health series, the Thriving at Work survey and Mental Health Summit, service strikes, drugs and alcohol and people/plant interface.

Kevin Robinson, Chief Executive of Safer Highways said: “I welcome Atkins into membership. I am really looking forward to working with them as they will bring real insight into a wide range of challenges and solutions across the highways and transport sector both here in the UK and from around the globe.”
