Alphabet signs new partnership deal with J Murphy & Sons

Farnborough, UK – 24 February 2021: Alphabet (GB), part of the BMW Group, has been selected by J Murphy & Sons, a leading global engineering and construction company, as its new company car fleet partner.

Murphy provides engineered solutions to infrastructure sectors including transportation, water, power, natural resources, and construction & property, and deliver the people, plant and expertise needed to make projects a success.

Alphabet will be supporting the company in its new ‘greener Murphy’ climate action strategy, including having low carbon vehicles across its whole business. Employees will now have access to a wider range of vehicles, including both electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), so they can select the vehicle best suited to their lifestyle. By providing its employees with low-carbon vehicle options, Murphy is taking more steps to deliver its sustainable commitments.

As Murphy’s new partner, Alphabet will provide the company with full fleet funding, as well as management services including damage reporting, roadside assistance, tyre replacements and mileage tracking.

Alphabet’s partnership with charging provider, NewMotion (part of the Shell Group), will also help the move to electric for Murphy employees. As part of the new scheme, Alphabet will support Murphy by providing free home chargers and installation to the first group of employees to place an electric vehicle order.

Murphy strongly believes in the road to net zero and helping educate employees in the benefits of sustainable fuels, whilst removing concerns around range anxiety or charging point availability. With many of its vehicles soon up for renewal, Murphy is keen to support its employees to choose EVs and PHEVs and play their part in reducing their impact on the environment.

Mike Carpenter, Managing Director at Murphy Plant says: “We’re really excited to be entering into this new partnership with Alphabet. At Murphy, we pride ourselves on doing what we can to reduce our impact on the world around us. This new partnership will build an even more effective service for our colleagues, and help our drivers to choose more eco-friendly vehicles, helping us to protect both our community and the environment wherever we can.”
